It's picture day! i will let the pictures explain for themselves

All of our day workers and crew from the galley

Ghislian stirring one of our huge steam kettles (we have two, they look like witches cauldrons...just saying)

A view of the galley standing on the hot side and looking down to cold side...you can just barely see me way in the back of the picture.  Kind of looks like a prison doesn't it?

View of the hot side, we have one steam/heat oven (the door that is open) and two stack ovens which are very tempermental

Matt with some of the hams we roasted for dinner tonight

Now the interesting part of this picture is notice in the back on the shelf that the pans are on is a  cord.  We have been working on "securing" the whole galley for sailing.  Almost all of our shelves now have some kind of cord or bar across them to keep things from falling off of shelves.  There's a video floating around the ship called Mighty Ships.  In that video, things in the galley were not secured and the next morning an entire case of eggs had fallen over, a case of milk had  broken open, flour was everywhere.  People say that was the day they had pancakes off of the floor (figuratively, not literally)
Yours truly :)
Loading the land rovers onto the ship.  Exciting!!! We are starting to look like we're leaving, everything's getting packed!

Those are the pictures for today!

  1. Dear Emma:

THANKS for the news and pics - you do such a good job with that. How long will it take to sail from where you are to Ghana? And then to Togo? We love you!
